Personal Data: We hold only the personal data we have been given by those joining or renewing their membership of the Association, specifically, names, postal and email addresses, telephone numbers and for a junior member their date of birth.
We use this data for the administration of their membership and to provide them with the publications, insurances and services to which either they are entitled or have selected on their membership application form.
Joining Worthing Beekeepers' Association includes membership of both West Sussex Beekeepers' Association (WSBKA) and the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA). Depending on the category of membership chosen we pass appropriate data to the WSBKA who then forward it to the BBKA. It is also shared directly with Bee Disease Insurance Ltd (BDI) and if applicable to Beecraft.
This data is stored in digital form on a personal computer with the appropriate level of security. A list of names is also printed for use at the monthly meetings to record attendance.
Members of the committee of Worthing Beekeepers and the Librarian have access to members' data in order for them to carry out legitimate tasks for the association. Apart from those mentioned above it is not shared with any other individual or organisation without permission.
When a member leaves the Association or dies we do not routinely delete their data. However, the ex-member or the next of kin of the deceased may request that their details are deleted from the database.
Under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) we are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer. The persons responsible for ensuring compliance are the Officers and Committee members of Worthing Beekeepers.
Should a member have questions regarding this policy or at any time wish to amend their personal data they should contact the Membership Secretary.
The Association will only use the details you provide for administration purposes and to provide you with the publications, insurances and services to which either you are entitled or have selected. 'Inspectors from the National Bee Unit are provided with members' details to follow up disease or invasive species alerts. Details are not disclosed to any other third parties.
